Exhibition of Contemporary Women's Art Opens in Beijing

"An exhibition of Chinese women's art started yesterday at the Beijing-based Chinese Museum of Women and Children as part of the International Women's Day's 100th anniversary celebrations.

The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the Ministry of Culture, and the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles sponsored the exhibition which comprises 150 paintings and works of calligraphy and sculpture by 100 renowned women artists. The exhibition also includes seminars to promote women's cultural and artistic development.

Chen Zhili, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and president of the ACWF, added a postscript expressing her congratulation on the event to a 10-meter-long Chinese scroll painting.

The exhibition runs until April 10."
