Morire di bellezza

"A 24-year-old woman from Sichuan Province died during a cosmetic surgery procedure on November 15.

Wang Bei, from Chengdu, was a winner of China's popular TV talent competition Super Girl in 2005. She underwent a facial bone-grinding surgery at a cosmetic surgery clinic in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

The operation was performed under general anesthesia, but Wang's jaw suddenly started to bleed - due to an apparent error of the surgeon - blocking her windpipe and suffocating her.

Wang was immediately transferred to No. 161 Hospital but was pronounced dead.

Wang's mother, who was undergoing the same operation at the clinic, was not notified of her daughter's death until the next day.

Guo Xiaojin, president of Huameizixin Medical Cosmetic Hospital in Sichuan said that this operation is very dangerous, and has caused several deaths around the country."
