Young China Watchers' meeting

"We are delighted to invite you to join us for the next session of Young China Watchers, on November 24th, 7.00pm. We are honored to welcome Professor Zhu Feng, Deputy Director at Center for International and Strategic Studies, Peking University, who will lead a discussion about 'The Domestic Debate Surrounding China's Rise'. Professor Zhu Feng began his undergraduate studies at the Department of International Politics at Peking University in 1981 and received his PhD. from Peking University in 1991. He writes extensively on regional security in East Asia, the nuclear issue in North Korea, American national security strategy, China-US relations and missile defense. He is a leading Chinese security expert and senior research fellow of the Center for Peace and Development of China. He will give a 30 minute presentation, to be followed by a lively moderated discussion for 30 minutes.

Young China Watchers is an informal group of young professionals living in and working on China. Through regular roundtables and talks, it provides a chance for dynamic individuals - of all nationalities and from all employment sectors - to interact, broaden their network circle, and discuss the most pressing issues regarding politics, economics and foreign policy emerging from China today. It aims to foster the next generation of China thought-leaders - be they in academia, government, or business - that will be integral to both China's internal development and to how the world engages with a rising China.

The group works by providing a regular informal session at which we invite a senior policy practitioner, academic, journalist or business executive to come and lead a moderated discussion about a pre-determined topic. The forum is primarily English-speaking, though the community is drawn from around the world, and thus it provides an excellent forum to debate in a frank manner the key issues surrounding China´s rise on the global stage.

We are expecting around 40 participants for the event, and whilst there is no charge for attendance, we would strongly encourage people to stick around after the event to eat and drink, as a favor to our kind hosts at Nola who have provided us with the private space.

This is a personal invitation, and whilst we appreciate the invite being circulated to interested individuals, we would ask that you pass us their information so we may extend them a direct invitation. Please include your name and affiliation with your RSVP.

RSVPs to youngchinawatchers@gmail.com"
